When we were young, we made our lives a celebration. This was especially true when we were teenagers and youth. During those days, our birthday celebrations were made cheerful by delicious birthday cakes and the boisterous presence of our friends. But, once we cross the landmark of 40 years, we begin to gradually lose the joy when our birthday arrives. Because, we become more conscious that we are nearing old age. Such a thought will serve only to make us inactive. Here are certain things a 40 plus person need to be mindful of:
Find new friends
It is not a difficult thing to find friends when you are young. But, things are different when you are above 40. So, try to find new friends. Do not lose any opportunity to get a new friend. A new friend will add a new zest and hope to your life.
Meet your friends frequently
Maintaining old friendships is equally important as finding new friends. Try to meet them frequently. If you cannot meet them personally, give them a ring. Take care not to lose your friends for any reason.
Reduce your weight
Maintain good food habits. Keep discipline in food intakes and put a curb on your weight.
Find time for yourself
Once you are above 40, you will be more involved in the family matters. You will be more concerned about the studies of your children, their future and other family affairs. And it happens that you forget to take care of yourself. That is not good. Find time for your physical and mental health and do things that make you happy.
Learn new things
Find time to learn new things in life. You can learn a new language or learn painting or tailoring. These engagements will make you happier.
Be prudent in spending money
In your younger days, you must have been a spendthrift. But, you need to put a curb on spending money when you are above 40. Because, you are aging and your responsibilities are on the increase. Moreover, you cannot be sure that you will have the same income when you are older.
Go for an outing once in a week
Never confine your life within the boundaries of your office and home. Go for an outing at least once a week. Visit a park or go for a movie.
Enjoy sex
Sex is not something to be stopped when you are in the middle age. Find time to engage in sexual relationship with your spouse. However busy you are in life, do not avoid sex.
Do not worry about future
Do not put yourself down by anxious thoughts like “Will I die tomorrow?” “Will I lose my health?” etc. You have lived so long. What if you live longer or not? Live in the joy of this moment and enjoy the beauty of this moment.
Engage in games with younger ones
If you wish to play some physical games, choose younger companions. The company of youngsters will help to invigorate yourself.
