Are there any children who haven’t played any games? Children from the older generation were fortunate enough to engage in many games. Children used to gather a lot of knowledge from the playground. Games have been displaced from the lives of many of our new generation of children as they go. Reasons ranging from urbanization to the development of technology have played a major role in it. Study pressure, vacations, vacation classes, mobile, internet, and flat life, due to many reasons, the fun and joy of games are stolen from some children’s lives. They have entered into new age games. Their childhood is limited to the entertainment of solitary play, which consists of a tab, laptop, and mobile. Many children are addicted to the vanity of TV.
Experiences and studies show that children who are kept away from playgrounds for various reasons or are denied playgrounds and consequently they face many mental and emotional difficulties when they grow up. It is also worth noting that many people who come to specialists with psychological problems did not have any childhood games. Some parents limit their children’s world to computers and mobile phones, under the mistaken belief that if they go out to play, they will be in bad company and cause danger. They take comfort in saying that their children are still under their care and supervision.
But, here we have to think about how Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple Company did. He only gave his children an iPad or a mobile phone once they were of a certain age. He realized that these technological devices can hurt children’s intellectual development and social and personal psychological levels. If children spend more than two hours of screen time a day, it affects their thinking and language skills negatively.
It is because many of our parents do not have such a realization that they give their mobile phones in their hands to feed them, calm down their stubborn children, and divert their attention to watching TV. When this becomes a habit, even the natural urge to play starts disappearing from children, and their lives are reduced to such a world. Like health, safety, and education, playing games is also a right of children. Playing games has been included in the UN Children’s Rights. So instead of raising children like they are caged, let them play. Set aside a specific time for playing each day. Parents should also ensure that their children are engaged in safe games.
Do not stunt children’s childhood. Do not infringe on their rights to play. May they play well and grow up. That way they will become better people.
