FEBRUARY 14 – A DAY FOR LOVE
Love forgets everything. It ignores the past and future. Its existence is in the present. Persons who are in love will dare to take up any adventure for the sake of that moment. They will forget not only the world but also their circumstances, relationships and responsibilities. The magical powers of love are more understood by those who oppose love and are trying to deviate the love-stricken ones than the lovers themselves. Sometimes, even the lovers do not understand the depth and intensity of their love. Actually, the parents and relatives of those who are in love better understand the intensity and dangers of love than the lovers.
It was not without reason that Emperor Claudius once banned marriage in his country. According to general understanding, love culminates in marriage. What if the soldiers forget their duty to serve the nation for the sake of marital love? Won’t the existence of the country itself be in danger? That was how he ordered a ban of marriages in his country.
But, isn’t marriage the fulfilment of love? Who can ban marriage? That was how a Christian priest named Valentine gave a green signal for love and set out to consecrate marriages across that country. Eventually, this daring attempt cost his life. But, he will be remembered as the ‘sentinel of love’ as long as there are lovers. He is the perfect person to be the monument of love. He did not stand for himself, but he stood for love. He was ready to tread any distance for the sake of love.
Unfortunately, today many love relationships are not as Valentine imagined. Some people, when their love fails or is rejected, even end up in murdering their beloved ones. Do these people really know what love is?
Love is essential for everyone. But, your love should be towards life. Love should be accompanied by respect as well. Everyone should have someone or something to love. We should live as lovable persons. Why have you become my love despite the long years that have passed and the long distances lying between us? Why is my heart laden with love even when I look at you without owning you? Is it because I do not desire anything except love or because you did not understand my love?
